It always take me by surprise. The smell. The chills. The clouds falling subduing every tree top in sight. How the sun has burned the edges of the leaves. Crisp. Everything around me is starting to die, and it hurts my eyes. I never liked surprises, even when I know they're coming. Tomorrow is September. The 1st. Where have all the flowers gone?

Autumn is in the air and it smells :(
ReplyDeleteBut you know, with the help of soft fabrics and happy colours we'll get used to it. Hopefully.
It smells indeed. Cold, and bitter. I wish I could love autumn, it must be a wonderful feeling. But I truly, madly, deeply - hate it. I always have. Soft pillows, blankets and sweaters is my survivor kit for the next 5-6 months.
DeleteXO, the Drama Queen.
I hate it too, since I'm very prone to vitamin D deficiency ... but I'm starting to learn how to cope, so I'm hoping for nice and cosy ... for the both of us!
DeleteI like September, but my love is October. I'm an Autumn child, so I always crave for Fall. Being lusitanian, I believe that has a lot of influence in it, as I am lucky enough to have quite mild Winters and pretty hot Summers, and plenty of sunlight all year long. There comes a time in the year when I nearly beg to be rid of the heat and the dazzling sun, and that happens to be September ;)

There are two things I find beautiful about fall;
Delete1. The colors.
2. The names of the months.
September, October and November.
The rest is just torture.
I can really understand how it must be bliss to escape the heat of summer for some. How you welcome chilled evenings, like I welcome the months where I can actually feel the sun on my skin. But fall and winter, for me, is just dark and lonely and cold and terrible.
Barbro,
ReplyDeleteI love how eloquent your words are. You have a simplicity and beauty in your style and I very much enjoy following your blog. <3
Oh, I really appreciate that - thank you so much for leaving such beautiful words for me! <3
DeleteBeautiful sweater and goes perfectly with that skirt!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heidi! :D
DeleteI love your skirt, very pretty photos!

Thanks a lot!
DeleteI always get a bit depressed when we enter September. Not because of September, cause it can still be quite an ok month, but cause I know life will basically suck until the end of April again. Norway, you know nothing! Too much coldness and darkness and.. bah!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you're saying. It's gorgeous outside, both in September and October - but I'm too busy being depressed to even notice. Stupid fall, stupid winter. Would much rather just skip the 6 months and go straight to spring <3
DeleteI too dread the fall storms and the onset of Winter though I know I should try to enjoy each day as best I can while they're here. I love Spring and temperatures between 55 degrees and 75 degrees Fahrenheit when all the flowers are blooming and the birds are chirping. love the patten on your sweater and the pleats and drape of your skirt. You, your sweater and your skirt all look beautiful. It's nice seeing your photos with the green foliage still out.
ReplyDeleteWe just have to hang in there, I guess. We can't change the seasons, but I'm really trying to change my expectations about them. It's such a terrible feeling when you loose hope every year, for the same reason. Desperately trying to change that!
