The soul is a spark of light similar to what you see in the periphery of your field of vision from time to time.

Sometimes, when I'm running around taking a hundred different pictures, I happen to take a very special one. Some people think that taking a photograph actually captures, even steals, a piece of ones soul. I feel this is one of them. The soul, or sáwol as it originally was called in the 8th century, is the self - the inner "I", that inhabits our body. Without the soul, the body is merely like a light bulb without electricity. Our soul feeds of life; and through sight, hearing, thought, speech, intelligence and emotions, will, desire, dreams, personality and identity it thrives within our body. Some people believe you lose a little piece of your soul along with that picture; maybe they are right and perhaps this proves just that. If it does, then I have a beautiful one.
