Showing My Pride Trio at RARE+ with Queerness
This Pride Week, I’m honoured to be exhibiting my work as part of RARE+, a group exhibition organised by Queerness and presented during Oslo Pride.
RARE+ brings together the work of 40 queer artists, creating space for a wide range of voices, stories, and artistic expressions. The exhibition is shown at Gamle Raadhus Scene and Oslo Pride Park, celebrating the creativity and diversity that exist within queer communities.
My contribution to the exhibition is a series of three illustrations: Just Kiss Them, Counting Cunts, and Hard and Soft.
Although the pieces are visually simple, they are rooted in experiences that have shaped much of my life. They explore themes of queer love, intimacy, self-discovery, healing, and the complicated journey from shame to self-acceptance. They are also, in many ways, a celebration of tenderness.
Growing up, I rarely saw queer experiences reflected in the world around me. Visibility mattered, even when I didn’t yet have the language to explain why. Creating these works has felt like both a personal and artistic process—an opportunity to explore what it means to take up space, to be seen, and to create images that centre queer joy rather than queer struggle alone.
At a time when queer people continue to face discrimination, hostility, and attempts to limit our visibility, spaces dedicated to queer art feel especially important. Art cannot solve these problems, but it can create connection. It can remind us that our stories matter and that we are not alone.
Participating in RARE+ feels significant for me, not only as an artist but as a queer person. A younger version of myself would never have imagined that my work would one day be exhibited as part of Pride. Being able to share these pieces in a space dedicated to queer voices is something I am deeply grateful for.
If you’re visiting Oslo Pride this year, I hope you’ll take the opportunity to experience the exhibition at Game Raadhus Scene and discover the incredible work of the many artists involved. Due to illness, I haven’t been able to go see the installation myself yet, but I will be visiting myself this week.
Happy Pride!
