Introducing Estela Balan!

I'd like to start by introducing the brand itself; then show my interpretation of items within the collections in separate posts. This way I am completely open about the sponsorship, and there are no doubts regarding the issues of "hidden promotions" and such. I always share my honest opinions, even if the outcome unflattering. Questions? Just contact me here.

Meet my new sponsor: the young and talented Mexican designer Diana Martinez of Estela Balan. My first impression was; oh, colors! And when I received my skirt to incorporate into my outfit, I thought: oh, art! The craftsmanship is excellent and Diana's attention to details is what makes her designs so special. This seasons collection, Mélange Ma Vie, is full of fun, vibrant colors and prints which gives the whole collection a lot of energy. There is romance and elegance with elements of the famous feeling of Spring-fling with details like; drapes, braids, ruffles and florals. It seems exclusive. And it is. What I, and others, have noticed is how her designs easily goes from day-wear to evening-wear; and when pieces are versatile like that - you know I love it. Do you like color-blocking? Then you'll love Estela Balan!

Who are you?
Diana Martinez, a 25-year-old Mexican Fashion Designer (Founder/Designer of Estela Balan)

When and why did you decided to start a Estela Balan?
4 years ago. Because it has always been my childhood dream to set up a successful design label, showing the world my visions and love of color; the designs are personal to me, and it's almost just a bonus if people like them, as I'm happy if I like them.

Are you aiming for seasonal or yearly collections?
Seasonal

Can we expect more collections from you?
I plan to create new collections each and every season; the only reason that I would ever give up is if I was unable to work and design.

You seem to like color, chiffon, ruffles, florals, silk, classic pieces and romance - especially in the SS 2011 collection. Where do you get your inspiration?
I try and get inspiration from my surroundings, and growing up in Mexico with the culture has been a big influence. I try and put the colors and patterns which I see around me each day into my designs. My emotions are also something which create a big influence when I'm designing the intensity of the color I use alters due to the emotion I'm feeling and what kind of events are going on in my life. I also always try and make sure I have a big visual impact; something a customer would say 'Wow!'

Would you consider Estela Balan's price range to be affordable or pure luxury?
It's luxury as a unique brand/label, but as a whole in terms of all labels - it is very reasonable. (between $120 and $260 USD.)Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer my questions, Diana - I really appreciate that! I picked the original yellow draped mini skirt, with ruffles and a braid details, which just happened to be the Estela Balan signature mini-skirt.
